Team 4 - W/b - 25.2.19

Date: 1st Mar 2019 @ 3:55pm

Welcome back Team 4, we hope all of our families had a lovely half term and that everybody managed to enjoy some rest. How lovely to return to school with some sunshine and a hint of Spring in the air too! The weather has certainly helped us with completing our themed week learning based on the text "Where My Wellies Take Me."

Our Welly Walk on Wednesday was an overwhelming success. The children's behaviour was impeccable and we received some very positive comments from our adult helpers as well as others in the community. Along the walk, the children practised following a map, sketching their local area and completing surveys. We completed the learning with some poetry in the park. Furthermore, back at school, we completed an orienteering exercise. We hadn't realised how speedy these children could be when they set their minds to a challenge!

Back at school, the children used the information that they collected during their walk to create tally charts and also create a shop survey. We also developed our map reading skills by studying OS maps and learning some of the symbols and in PE and Forest School, we have been learning compass directions.

Alongside this the children have completed some editing and sentence work in English and some multiplication and perimeter work in maths. The children have also enjoyed their first art session with Mrs Caroe in which they have been making some beautiful maps. This is because Mrs Caroe will be leading art sessions on a Tuesday afternoon and is helping to make a beautiful class book to collate our geography learning.

Have a lovely week,

Mrs Hughes and Miss Foster
