Team 4 Wb 18.3.24

Date: 21st Mar 2024 @ 7:56pm

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English work this week, we learnt how to use speech to show conversation between characters. We pretended that we were islanders who experienced a tremor as a result of volcanic activity. We then had to write a conversation between characters about what they might have said when this happened and what they would give to the volcano to appease it.

In our spelling work this week, we learnt about the prefix -auto and how this changed a root word’s meaning. You could support this learning at home by practising the following spellings with your child:

- autocue

- automobile

- autopilot

- autograph

- autobiography

In maths, we continued exploring decimals and we learnt how to identify the place value of tenths and hundredths. We then used this knowledge to divide given one or two-digit numbers by ten or one hundred. We used place value mats and number cards to help us physically see what happened when we divided these numbers by 10 or 100 and explored patterns and rules.

In our afternoon learning, in geography, we explored the different biomes and vegetation belts in Europe (e.g. tundra), in music we continued developing our violin skills and we also completed our weekly times tables challenge. We also watched the Horn’s Mill Has Got Talent auditions which the class thoroughly enjoyed!

Just a couple of reminders:

1. Please ensure reading records and books are brought in on Monday ready to be swapped/checked.

2. We are currently involved in a Times Table Rockstar battle with Team 3 which ends on Monday. We are currently in the lead so please encourage your child to go on it for a minimum of ten minutes each day until Monday morning so we can go into the final battle of the year with a chance of winning the trophy!!!!

3. Our final Mouse Mania of the term is ‘treats and a film’. Your child can bring some treats in on Thursday 28th to enjoy whilst they watch the film.

Have a lovely weekend Team 4!
