Team 4 Wb 22.1.24

Date: 27th Jan 2024 @ 8:41am

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we continued exploring our new class text ‘Escape From Pompeii’. We looked at what Pompeii looked like back in the Roman times and we then wrote a diary entry written from the perspective of Tranio (the main character in the book). In this diary entry, we wrote about what we would have seen, smelt, heard and felt walking through the streets of this city. We also learnt how to change verbs to maintain the past tense for this diary entry.

In maths, we began our new unit all about fractions. We learnt what the different parts of a fraction are and their names. We then learnt how to calculate hundredths, write mixed numbers and then also plot fractions on a number line. We then applied this learning to a range of word problems.

In our afternoon learning, we continued our violin lessons in music, in DT we continued exploring how to make goggles with Mrs Coman-Jones and in history we learnt how the ancient Roman army impacted our armed forces today. We also completed our weekly times table test.

Just a couple of reminders for next week:

Please can reading records and books come into school on Monday morning ready to be swapped.

Mouse Mania next week is Bikes and Scooters. Please ensure your child brings a helmet.

Have a great weekend Team 4!
