Team 5: w/b 01.02.16

This week in Team 5 we had a big push on fractions during Mathematics lessons. We were particularly focused upon answering calculations were it was necessary to convert all of the denominators to the same denominator. The children found this concept challenging, and there were certainly a few lightbulb moments when the method finally clicked! We will be doing some further work on this next week to really solidify our learning.

In English we began the innovation stage of writing a character description: focusing upon developing all of the different elements in order to make the description as effective as possible.

This week we also began our new science unit, Properties of Materials, by conducting an experiment around which material (from a selection) would be the most absorbent.

We also had Clever Conduct Day on Thursday, from which some fantastic artwork was produced. I felt that the children really understood the important messages that stood out during this day.

I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend, ready for one more week of learning before the half term holiday!
