What a colourful week we have had in Team 5 this week!

We hope that the children have enjoyed our special colour run today – I know the adults certainly did! It was fantastic fun and a super end to the week.

In class this week we have been learning about the Hindu festival Holi. The children retold the story of Krishna and Radha in written form or comic strip. We also completed a class glossary of some vocabulary related to the topic. In reading, we have had a Diwali focus and the children have read to mythical texts and a non-fiction piece to develop their understanding of this religious festival.

In maths, we have been continuing to practise our rounding. This is often a tricky area but the children are starting to see the patterns and are applying the rules to increasingly larger numbers.

In English, we have been looking at the text ‘Of Thee I Sing’ The children found this text, written by Barak Obama to his daughters, very inspirational and it also helped us develop some knowledge of the USA.

On Wednesday, the children had the first of 6 special community art mornings. Team 5 took over the hall – they needed a lot of space for their large scale art project! We will keep you up to date on how the project develops as it will ultimately displayed in Helsby.

We hope you all managed to find your children under the powder paint and we look forward to seeing them next week! Have a great weekend.
