Team 5: w/b 21.11.16

Date: 29th Nov 2016 @ 7:34pm

Team 5 have begun learning the story of Baboushka; a Russian folktale that links into the Christmas story- see if they can tell it to you! We will continue working on this story over the next few weeks, evaluating the text and improving our punctuation skills.

In Maths, we are learning to multiply and divide decimal numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.  Everyone has been working so hard and making huge improvements on this. It is important to be able to explain what happens to a number when you multiply/divide it by 10,100 and 1000.

We are still working hard to perfect our Christmas production and the singing in Team 5 sounds beautiful. Time now to perfect our dancing!  It's going to be a great show!

Towards the end of the week, we concluded our mathematics unit of column addition and subtraction: the majority of children are now able to problem solve against this objective and are ready to move onto the next.

In Guided Reading, the children were writing notes that would be useful for writing a recommendation for a book that they have enjoyed. This is in preparation for a write-up of this recommendation next week.

The children also received new spellings. We practised our dictionary skills to find the meaning of unfamiliar words and to perfect our dictionary skills!

See you all next week!
