Team 5: w/b 25.01.16

Date: 29th Jan 2016 @ 6:23pm

This week in Team 5 has been jam-packed full of learning!

In Maths we mastered our understanding of Roman Numerals, squared and cubed numbers. Perseverance was abundant during these lessons and every child progressed with a sense of achievement, they particularly enjoyed the challenge of Roman Numerals!

In English we began our new fiction unit, focusing specifically upon character description. Our focus text, Queen of the Falls, had the children captivated. This interest then led into some research around Niagara Falls and others who went over the falls in a barrel, in preparation for the creation of a PowerPoint presentation next week in computing.

We had another go at P4C on Wednesday, this time focusing around a stimulus: the book Something Else. From this starting point, the children developed questions and then voted upon 'Why do some people think that they are better than others?'. Again, it was an interesting afternoon and a great opportunity for children to share their opinions and challenge others.

At the end of the week, we also considered time zones in Geography/Science and looked into why we have different times in different countries. I was impressed to see the children making connections between our learning in Science about the rotation of the Earth and position of the Sun.

Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend. See you all next week.
