Team 5: w/b 26.9.16

Date: 2nd Oct 2016 @ 7:01pm

This week in Team 5 we began our new science topic, focusing upon the human life cycle. The children were asked to bring in a picture of themselves when they were a baby / younger child. Individually and as a class we considered the physical changes we could see between the developmental stages of baby and child. As well as the physcial changes between the five key areas of the cycle, the children also learnt about the levels of independence/dependence that are general for each stage.

In English, the children began their new fictional English unit: Journey Stories. To begin with, in order to instill interest into the book, the children speculated around images that can be found in the story. We then read the story together and considered the contrast between our predictions and the actual story.

In Mathematics we focused upon both negative numbers and rounding this week. Rounding is a particularly challenging concept, but the children really took it in their stride. At the beginning of next week, we will be applying our knowledge of rounding towards reasoning and problem solving.

We also continued with learning various instruments in music and building on our gymnastic skills in PE.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend, ready for learning again tomorrow!
