Team 5: w/b 4.01.16

Happy New Year everyone!

This week in Team 5 we got stuck in with our learning right away.

In Mathematics, we were looking at converting between different units of metric measure. This proved to be quite tricky, but the children were very determined to master the method!

In English, we were looking at explanation texts. We pulled out the features, discussed what makes a good explanation text and learned the class example by using an action map. The children produced some excellent pieces of short burst writing throughout the week; they will definitely be ready to write up their own explanation text next week.

We started our new topic, Erupt! This week had a predominantly geographical focus: we used the lines of latitude and longitude to locate world countries, and also used an atlas to identify and label the states of North America.

A wonderful start to the Spring Term!
