Team 6 wb 1.1.24

Date: 5th Jan 2024 @ 3:00pm

Firstly, Happy New Year!!! Although we were tired, we were happy to be back :)

This (half) week in T6 we carried on our learning about various things:

In maths we have been practising adding and subtracting fractions by changing the denominators and if needed converting mixed numbers into improper fractions.

In geography we looked at rivers in the UK and the top ten longest rivers in the UK. We used the atlases as a guide to draw them on a plain map ok the UK. We recapped over parts of a river that we learned in Team 4, such as source, mouth, meander and tributaries.

In Reading this week our topic has been poems and we have been looking at various different poems, some following our current topic of the windrush generation, some just fun to read. My favourite was a chapter of 'Cloud Busting' by Malorie Blackman which is written in poetry style.

In Circle time we talked about the Christmas holidays, and shared anything that we wanted to. Whetther than be what we enjoyed, where we went or what presents we got.

In English, we looked at a poem called 'The British' by Benjamin Zephaniah based on the different countries that make up England and the different tribes and communities that came and settled here. We have also been looking at how people ended up living in the Carribbean Isalnds.

In P.E we have started a new topic, gymnastics, and have been practising matching with a partner (both doing the same move but at different times, and placements). In our partners we made up a routine involving three or more moves using matching. We then shared with the class!

Have a lovely weekend everyone,
