Good afternoon!

This week has just flown by. It has been filled with lots of learning and hopefully some fun scattered within it for good measure.

In English, we have continued to perfect our skill of including subordinating conjunctions in our writing. This led up to us writing a diary entry from the perspective of Tom (in our book). We thought carefully about including words such as 'if, but, athough, when and because'  to extend our sentences, we wrote in the past tense and we included interesting vocabulary.

In reading, we have just started the book 'A Boy Called Christmas' as our class novel. Hopefully we can watch the film nearer to Christmas as a treat and then compare and contrast the two.

In maths, we continued to learn how to use the column method of subtraction where renaming is taking place. We are working with two 3-digit numbers. It has proven to be quite challenging for many but we have been impressed by their determination and resilience. We will continue into next week with this.

On Thursday afternoon, we enjoyed our computing lesson with a focus on algorithms. We used the Lego WeDo2 software and blocks to create a model and instruct that model to move. We also used an App called A.L.E.X which requires us to follow algorithms to get a robot to his destination. The classroom was very noisy - but in a good way!

Friday has seen us all come in dressed in PJs for Children in Need. Thank you for your support and of course donations to this great cause. We started the day with a 30 minute zoom session called AmaSing where we learned a song and a dance to accompany it. We had a blast, the children loved it (and so did I!).

Have a wonderful weekend.
